Kompozer for ubuntu9/21/2023 Hello I tried this now and it works fine on Jaunty ! A newer one should also do fine, I suppose. Yes! You have kompozer running without the need of even installing it !! I've using it this way for several months in intrepid with no problem at all. > From nautilus (or by any means) execute the shell script named "kompozer" > Uncompress it in a directory of your choice But it's supposed to become the next KompoZer release and is not yet more than Alpha, for example FTP publishing does not work there yet: There is a later Alpha out at time of writing this that do not need this fix. Original post that suggested using the older lib (for Debian) : Fixed by typing the passwords in again first time. Have FTP accounts specified in the editor I noticed the password fields gets cleared out first time you run with the older library so ftp logins stop working. Small note: If you used KompoZer prior to this 'fix' and This means KompoZer will be using this older library instead of the regular one in the system. You now edit the KompoZer startup script using some favourite editor:Įxport GTK_PATH="/usr/local/libgtk2.0-0_2.12.9/usr/lib" (2) Create a folder under /usr/local where the 2.12 files shall live : (1) Get the most recent Ubuntu version of the GTK library for 2.12 I found a nice solution that works ! By downloading a version of the the older GTK 2.12 to a separate location (thus not affecting the rest of the system) and configuring KompoZer to use that version then stability is accomplished ! This causes crashes such as when editing tables, making KompoZer unusable for serious work. It's because version 0.7.10 (used in Intrepid and Jaunty) is built to use GTK 2.12 while this library has moved to version 2.14 in Intrepid/Jaunty. This post is, of course, a few days before the official release of 9.04, so the Kompozer folks might resolve it yet. I downloaded an update to Kompozer with high expectations, but the problem persists. It's a pretty significant problem for those of us who rely on "easy-to-use" web authoring software. Like V8.10, Kompozer crashes for no apparent reason in 9.04.
